1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero by 2050
Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd is fully committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in line with UK Government targets. We recognise our responsibility to reduce environmental impact across all areas of operation, including travel, procurement, energy consumption, and digital delivery.
2. Baseline Emissions Footprint
Our baseline year is 2023–2024, the first full year for which data was collected under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Standard.
| **Emission Scope** | **Description** | **Emissions (tCO₂e)** |
| **Scope 1** | Direct emissions from owned vehicles and fuel use | 0.3 |
| **Scope 2** | Indirect emissions from purchased electricity for office use | 0.7 |
| **Scope 3** | Indirect emissions from business travel (train, car hire, accommodation), staff commuting, purchased goods and services, and waste | 6.8 |
| **Total Baseline Emissions** | | **7.8 tCO₂e** |
Phoenix operates primarily as a professional training and consultancy provider with hybrid working arrangements and limited travel-related emissions. Our Scope 3 emissions represent the largest category, particularly from business travel and digital operations.
3. Current Emissions Reporting (2024–2025)
| **Emission Scope** | **Emissions (tCO₂e)** |
| **Scope 1** | 0.2 |
| **Scope 2** | 0.6 |
| **Scope 3** | 5.9 |
| **Total** | **6.7 tCO₂e** |
This reflects a 14% reduction from the baseline year due to reduced travel, increased virtual training delivery, and improvements in energy efficiency.
4. Emissions Reduction Targets
Phoenix aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050, with interim targets to:
Reduce total emissions by 50% by 2035, and
Reduce total emissions by 75% by 2045.
We will achieve these reductions through:
Increasing use of virtual and hybrid training delivery to minimise travel.
Transitioning to renewable energy providers for all office premises.
Implementing a Green Travel Policy, promoting public transport and car sharing.
Expanding digital-first operations, including remote meetings, e-learning, and paperless processes.
Partnering only with suppliers who demonstrate environmental sustainability practices.
5. Environmental Management Measures
Phoenix has established robust environmental management and monitoring processes:
Environmental objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) are reviewed annually.
Procurement decisions prioritise local venues, low-carbon travel, and eco-certified suppliers.
All contracts include a commitment to sustainable delivery and responsible waste management.
Office operations are managed under an internal Environmental Sustainability Policy aligned with ISO 14001 principles (though formal certification is not currently held).
Regular staff awareness training promotes energy conservation, recycling, and reduced paper use.
Travel data and utility usage are tracked to monitor progress against annual reduction goals.
These measures are actively applied when performing all contracts, including public sector delivery, ensuring low-carbon, sustainable, and resilient operations.
6. Declaration and Approval
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the Technical Standard for Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans.
It has been reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors of Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd.
