Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Financial Year: 2026–2027

1. Introduction

Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct and integrity in all our business activities. We fully support the UK Government’s objective to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and are committed to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking do not take place in any part of our business or supply chains. Although we are not legally required to publish a statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we choose to do so voluntarily as part of our commitment to transparency, accountability, and social responsibility.

2. Organisational Structure

Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd is a UK-based company delivering high-quality training, consultancy, and research services in the areas of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, mental health, social justice, and leadership. We operate with a small core team and a network of trusted associates and subcontractors. All staff, associates, and suppliers are based in the UK.

3. Our Commitment

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chains.

4. Policies and Procedures

To prevent and detect modern slavery and human trafficking, we have implemented the following internal policies and processes:

  • Recruitment Policy: We conduct rigorous recruitment checks to ensure all employees, contractors, and associates have the right to work in the UK and are employed voluntarily under fair conditions.

  • Safeguarding and Whistleblowing Policy: All staff and associates are trained to identify and report concerns, including indicators of modern slavery or exploitation. Our safeguarding procedures enable staff to escalate concerns internally and externally to the appropriate authorities.

  • Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination Policy: We promote fairness and inclusion across our workforce and work to eliminate any form of exploitation or discriminatory practice.

  • Supplier Vetting and Due Diligence: While our supply chain is minimal, we conduct informal due diligence on any contractors, subcontractors, or partners, particularly for goods and services where modern slavery risk is elevated.

5. Supply Chain

Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd has a low-risk supply chain, largely limited to UK-based freelance trainers, consultants, researchers, and professional service providers. We do not procure goods or services from countries with a high prevalence of modern slavery. Nonetheless, we remain vigilant and review supply relationships to ensure ethical sourcing and employment practices.

6. Risk Assessment and Mitigation

While our direct operations present a low risk of modern slavery, we remain alert to potential indirect risks through:

  • Freelance or subcontracted work

  • Supply of materials (e.g. branded merchandise or equipment)

  • External venues or third-party suppliers used in training delivery

We mitigate these risks by:

  • Requiring all contractors and associates to comply with our Code of Conduct and safeguarding procedures

  • Ensuring that all contracts include appropriate clauses on ethical conduct

  • Using only reputable suppliers with clear anti-slavery policies where applicable

7. Training and Awareness

All staff, directors, and associates are briefed on the risks of modern slavery and the indicators of potential exploitation. This is integrated into our onboarding process and our safeguarding training. We encourage all staff to be vigilant and to report any concerns without fear of retaliation.

8. Ongoing Review

We are committed to continual improvement and will review this statement annually. Any concerns raised, changes in legislation, or shifts in our operating model will trigger a review of our approach to modern slavery risk. We will update our policies and procedures accordingly and continue to raise awareness across our team and partnerships.
